White Charcoal Pencil

Dried flowers, potpourri and butterflies- to fill lamp.

Directions:

1. Tape around entire lamp shade and secure it to table top.
2. Wash clean water onto shade with large watercolor brush, make sure not to let water puddle. Mix Walnut Inks into plastic dish. While paper shade is still wet, brush the Walnut Ink onto shade. Wet into wet technique. Let dry. Remove masking tape.
3. Stamp Butterfly Study with Walnut Inks. Brush onto stamp with # 1 brush. Make sure it is mixed to a thick consistency. Stamp 3-4 times on shade for background image.
4. Stamp Painted Lady Butterfly, Sketching Pencil, Nature Word Duo with Walnut Ink. Let dry.
5. Stamp Small Painted Lady Butterfly (from Entomology Block) with Sepia Dye Ink randomly around lamp shade. Let dry.
6. Stiple Sepia Ink around top and bottom of shade.
7. With White Charcoal Pencil, add highlights to images.

8. With Craft Knife, cut around wing of Large Painted Lady Stamp. Be sure to leave about 1/4 inch at the head and tail of butterfly so that the image will stay attached.
9. With the Paper Shaper Tool, define the body of the butterfly. (Make sure to put pad under paper). Turn shade over and use large end of tool, and in circular motion, curl butterfly wings. Turn back over, and pop out the 3-D Butterfly if necessary.
10. Assemble lampshade using eyelets and twine. (Use hot glue if desired)

11. Assemble Pint Jar Lamp, filling jar with potpourri, dried flowers, butterflies, and attach lamp clips to bulb. Enjoy your 3-D Butterfly Lamp!
